A Makeup Artist’s Day at a Reymerston Hall Wedding

A Suffolk Wedding Makeup Artist’s Day at Reymerston Hall: From Early Alarms to Beautiful Brides

Today’s alarm call was a respectable 6 am, unlike last week when it blasted at 4:30 am, so this almost felt like a lie-in! By 7 am, I was ready to go, having prepped my kit the night before and made lunch. After a long wedding day, I always need food, or I’ll end up eating fast food on the way home.

The drive to Reymerston Hall took an hour and a half. It’s a stunning Georgian venue in the Norfolk countryside, and since it was my first time there, I was excited to see a new place. The bridal room is light, airy, and filled with natural light from big windows—though still not bright enough for my work, so I brought in my trusty ring light. Fortunately, there was plenty of space for my kit, which made setup easy.

The day started off gloomy and rainy but turned into a beautiful afternoon, something brides always appreciate.

The bride, Sophie, had her mum and three bridesmaids getting ready alongside her. Sophie opted for natural makeup that highlighted her features beautifully. I used the Charlotte Tilbury Exagger-Eyes palette, which has soft rose gold tones that I love. To enhance her eyes, I applied natural nude contour shades and added some cluster lashes for extra definition. For the base, I used Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, paired with a subtle contour from Huda Beauty Tantour. A blend of cream and powder peachy blushes added a fresh glow, and we finished the look with Charlotte Tilbury’s Dancefloor Princess lipstick.

Each of the ladies had slightly different shimmering eyeshadows to complement their individual skin tones, giving them a unique but cohesive look. It was a pleasure working alongside Brooke from Boho Beauty Box, who took care of the hair, and the talented Gina Manning Photography, who captured the day beautifully.

By around 1:30 pm, I was packed up and heading home. After a long day, the hour-and-a-half drive to my mum’s house felt even longer, especially with the winding country roads. My sat nav didn’t make it any easier, deciding I needed a challenge on top of everything! It amazes me how some people commute like this every day, but music kept me going, singing along to keep myself awake.

I picked up Ruby and arrived home around 4 pm. A much-needed cuppa and a care package of dinner from my mum was exactly what I needed.

Cleaning my makeup kit could wait until tomorrow. After such a long day, I was thankful I didn’t have another wedding to rush to. Cleaning brushes, restocking lashes and glue, refilling cleansers, and making a list of products that need ordering would all have to wait.

Finally, I could relax with Ruby, tickling her tummy while trying to squeeze in some Instagram posts and jot down notes for this blog post, so I wouldn’t forget a thing!
