A Dreamy Summer Wedding at Bruisyard Hall

Driving up the gravel driveway to Bruisyard Hall always feels magical. The stately country estate rises majestically as you approach, making every arrival a special moment. For me, it also feels like coming home, as Bruisyard was one of the first venues where I did wedding makeup—and being on their recommended supplier list remains an absolute honour.
A Picture-Perfect Bride
Emily, the bride, was an absolute delight from the moment she booked me. From her trial to her wedding day and even after, she exuded grace and beauty, making her an unforgettable client.
On the day of the wedding, I arrived unusually early, beating Lynnette, the hairdresser, for once! This rarely happens, as she’s typically set up before I even turn up. When I arrived, the usually bustling Bruisyard Hall felt oddly quiet, with not a soul in sight. I found Emily waiting patiently in her room for the rest of the house to wake up. My advice to her: “Wake them up! It’s your wedding day, if not today, when?”
The Bridal Prep
Carrying my kit up the stairs (still spread across three bags despite years of promising to downsize), I set up in Bruisyard’s stunning master bedroom. This room is a dream for makeup artists, with its natural light streaming through beautiful deep-set windows. I claimed the left-hand window for my setup, leaving the dressing table for Lynnette. It’s also the perfect spot for people-watching as guests arrive.
My schedule for the day included makeup for Emily, her mum, and her three bridesmaids. Lynnette worked her magic on Emily’s hair, crafting barely-there curls that looked effortlessly elegant.
For Emily’s makeup, I created a glowing bronze look using Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer, with a neutral contour and a touch of shimmer on her eyelids to highlight her eyes. A feline flick and individual lashes framed her gaze beautifully. For her lips, I chose Charlotte Tilbury’s Dancefloor Princess, a soft, bridal pink that couldn’t have been more perfect for the occasion.
The Wedding Day Details
Emily and her fiancé were married at St. Michael’s Church in Framlingham, before returning to Bruisyard Hall for a beautiful summer reception.
Sadly, I had to leave before Emily was fully dressed, as I received an SOS call to help another bridal party whose makeup artist had fallen ill. Thankfully, Lynnette showed me a lovely photo of Emily in her stunning gown an effortlessly timeless dress by Sassi Holford, featuring a plunging neckline, clean lines, and a waist-defining belt. And of course, I got to see Lucy’s wonderful pro photos a little while after the Wedding. Emily’s veil, designed by Sash and Veil, featured delicate floating pearls scattered throughout the tulle, adding a touch of ethereal beauty.

A Heartfelt Thank You
After the wedding, I received the most wonderful email from Emily:
I wanted to write to say a HUGE thank you for doing our wedding makeup on 10th August 2024. You were AMAZING, and if I could hire you daily, I would!! You were so calming and supportive on the morning of the wedding, and I honestly cannot thank you enough. Not to mention, the makeup you did for all of us was more perfect than I could ever have imagined. You gave us dream makeup for a dream day!
You are genuinely the BEST, and you will be the first person I recommend to anyone asking for professional makeup. We have not yet received our professional photos, but as soon as I do, I’ll forward some of our favourites from the morning.
Thank you again,
Emily x
Emails like this make my heart smile. Knowing I helped a bride feel special on her wedding day is all I could ever want.
