What to expect on your Wedding morning (from your make up artist)

Wondering what will happen on your Wedding morning? I’ve had the privilege of sharing this special time with hundreds of brides and their friends and families, so I’m here as an experienced wedding make up artist to give you an overview of how your Wedding morning will go.

We will have everything planned, so please don’t worry about anything to do with timings, I’ll arrive on your wedding morning at our agreed time with our planned schedule.

For me, as a make up artist Wedding morning schedules are bespoke, but to give you an idea of how yours may look; I almost always leave the bride till last (I find Wedding day nerves mean you might touch your face more than normal and I do not want you sitting around for too long with a full face on), I take into account in advance anyone who may not be with you early in the morning or may need to leave early. I also work with and around your hairdresser.

You concentrate on taking it all in, you’ve been planning this day for a long time, and it is finally here so enjoy it from the very beginning.

One thing I can promise is that I bring a calmness to your Wedding Day, you’ll feel in good hands, just RELAX.

Rest assured that everybody’s makeup will be done beautifully, but also, I will bring fun and laughter to the morning.

I love to laugh; I laugh every day and I love being part of your Wedding Day.

A great thing to do is to make a play list (or give that job to one of your bridesmaids) (although I slightly have PTSD from Bruno Mars)! It is always good to have include really chilled out songs and upbeat party tracks that you absolutely love – then the DJ (aka your bridesmaid) can skip to the songs that are needed to boost the mood or chill you out!

An extra tip from me would be to open any presents (from your groom or bridesmaids) before you have your make up done, tears are likely to flow and the last thing you want to do is mess up your make up! And make sure you schedule this into your morning plan – it goes surprisingly quickly and curveballs like unplanned present opening can knock everything off track.

Your Wedding morning will be full of happiness and fun with your friends and family. For me, it’s just joyful to be part of.

I hope, when you look back you remember me and what I brought to your Wedding morning preparations with fondness.

Please remember – it’s YOUR Wedding Day, it should be fun but if you want it to be quiet that’s okay too! At times you just need to feel calm, so if you want it to be just us in a room without any distractions or other people – that’s absolutely fine.

I specialise in natural make up. I can do any make up, of course I am make-up artist after all, but brides mostly come to me because they want to feel like the best version of themselves on their Wedding Day.

Thank you for the wonderful photographs Ayshea Goldberg, Lisa and Neil, Tim Stephenson and Beth Beresford.
